Explorer Scouts Easter Expedition:
Baden Wurttemberg, Germany, 7th - 14th April 2007, £320

Rosendorf Nöggenschwiel CampsiteThe Easter Explorer Expedition is based at Rosendorf Nöggenschwiel (pronounced Nog-en-sh-wheel), just south of Baden Baden, within the southern part of the Black Forest  in the Baden-Wurttemberg region of Germany.

For Scouts who like mooching in foreign cities, we will cross through France and Belgium. we are based close to the city of Freiburg as well as Baden-Baden. We are also close to Basel and Zurich in Switzerland, not that far from France or Austria! A multi-country Expedition is possible!

Our base camp is a BIG hut (see below) in a Scout Reserve, 5 km east of the motorway "Bundesstraße 500" that runs between Waldshut and Höchenschwand.

The Expedition will hire a modern minibus (with tachometer) as our basic transport, and we are taking Colin's Espace towing the horsebox or a trailer to carry all the kit and any mountain bikes that Explorers may wish to bring as part of their planned activities. No base camp tents or cooking stuff needed, as we are Hut based.

Activities

Dan, Fet, Lizzie and Stu are looking at the region and putting some work into what are the available activities in the area, within reasonable driving distance in the Minibus.

Some activities that the Explorers are researching include summer tobogganing and skiing (Ben) (there is always snow on the very high French/Swiss border slopes), hiking, day trips to the hot spa at Baden-Baden (Kirsten), visit the Eagles Nest at Berchtesgarten as well as going down the famous salt mines, Dobby is looking at a Brewery visit in the local town, a chance to go white water rafting (Stu), and there should be some Biking (Dan) and hopefully some good old fashioned hiking and hill-walking opportunities too. We hope to have Bill along, who holds a Mountain Ticket, so some serious Mountain walks are also very much on the agenda.

A more detailed program and timetable will be published when the Explorers complete their researches and costings....
